Elsewhere, a businessman on an isolated beach searches for the one thing that has evaded him his whole life: A way out. Written & Directed By Sam Gilberg & Armand Dov Brescia Story By Sam Gilberg, Armand Dov Brescia & Ian Schulz ---A statement from NA--- Are you here right now? This is the question we ask ourselves at the start of every work session. It is also the question at the root of this film. We spend most of our days recycling the same patterns of thought. Whether it be replaying a fond memory, or obsessing about what we should have said or done differently, we drift through most of our waking lives watching videos of our past, and letting them dictate our future. But the question becomes: How true are these memories? And what becomes of the here and now, if we spend so much time away from it? When looking back, the grass can be as green as we choose to remember. Certainly greener than the present moment. But what if the memory was never so green to begin with? Can we really know for sure? And when we are the only audience member in the theatre of our memories, does it ultimately really matter? For us, we always felt the most present during summer nights. Those moments just after the sun went down, the thick, warm air on your skin, the intoxicating smell of salt water and bonfire smoke, with nowhere to be but There. In these moments, there was truly no time like the present. While these memories provide us with joy and comfort, they also make it harder to pull ourselves out of our past, and into the present. This is what our film is about. We wanted to tell a story about someone who spends their life replaying a memory, but in doing so, prevents themselves from living a life that doesn’t need to be re-imagined. In A Shore, we examine the temptations and manipulations of nostalgia; that burst of warmth released in your stomach that one moment all those years ago, that you’ve spent your whole life recreating in your mind. So before you go any further, we want to ask you: Are you here right now? -------End statement------- - New York International Film Awards - Winner, Grand Jury Award (Narrative Short) Nominated, Best First-Time Director - The Monthly Film Festival - Winner, Best Experimental Short Finalist, Director of the Month Finalist, Best Screenplay - Direct Monthly Film Festival - Winner, Critics Choice Award - Film Crash Film Festival - Winner, First Prize (Narrative Short) - Culver City Film Festival - Winner, Best Production Design (Giovanna Chiarella) - Maverick Movie Awards - Finalist, Best Director Finalist, Best Screenplay Finalist, Best Ensemble Performance (Richard Neil, Ezekiel Goodman, Will Holbrook) Finalist, Best Cinematography (John Belanger) Finalist, Best Score (Overcoats) - BLOW-UP International Arthouse Filmfest - Finalist, Best Director - Indie Short Fest: Los Angeles International Film Festival - Finalist, Best Experimental Short - New Filmmakers NY - Finalist, Best Narrative Short - Prague International Film Festival - Finalist, Best Experimental Short Finalist, Best First-Time Director - Hollywood International Filmmaker Awards - Finalist, Best Narrative Short - Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival (NY Times Top 100) - Official Selection - Malibu Film Festival - Official Selection - Santa Monica International Film Festival - Official Selection - DUMBO Film Festival - Official Selection - Depth of Field Film Festival - Official Selection - HollyShorts Film Festival - Official Selection - Solaris Film Festival - Official Selection ------------------------------------- Instagram: @newangelproductions Web: newangelproductions.com Contact: info@newangelproductions.com All Rights Reserved. © 2021 - New Angel Productions
